What is Gentle Touch Reflexology?
Gentle Touch™ is the trade mark of Sue Ricks. It is a very light Reflexology which is very effective for a wide variety of health problems. It is relaxing and works as an holistic therapy. As a Reflexologist I treat the person as a whole, not just the health problem.
What happens?
When I arrive, to give a client a treatment, I make them comfortable in a special chair. I ensure that they understand what is going to happen and a health assessment is taken at the first treatment. The first treatment lasts for about an hour and fifteen minutes and subsequent treatments last for an hour. Any questions or concerns are addressed at this time. The client then removes their socks and shoes. The chair is lowered back to a horizontal position and the client is made comfortable with a pillow behind their head and one under their feet. The client will be asked if they want a warm blanket to cover them and a soft toy to cuddle. Their feet are then wrapped in a soft white towel.
What is it like to have a treatment?
Reflexology is very relaxing and it is quite normal for clients to fall asleep during the treatment or on the contrary, they may become very chatty. As Refelexologists, we believe that the whole body is reflected in the feet and clients may experience some sensations, such as subtle tingling. The treatment does not tickle but gives a soothing and relaxing feeling.
After the Treatment
When the treatment has finished the client is left to relax for a while and a drink of water is offered. Clients may have a variety of after effects, from being highly energised to very sleepy. It is also possible that some clients may feel slightly unwell the next day and this is called a healing response, where the body continues to heal itself.
